Q

What was Liverpool’s attitude to Repression and Reform?

A

Early on, Lord Liverpool’s government was quite repressive but this changed later on- particularly 1819. They could have been acting this way because of fear after French Revolution and post-wear issues. They seemed to suit interests of landowning class.

Q

What happened to the economy during Liverpool as PM?

A

There was a brief post-war boom in 1815 as there was a demand for goods not available during the war. Then there was a depression and some wages decreased. Depression lifted in 1819 with increase of export trade and good harvests. 1819 the bank of England resumed cash payments and value of British currency increased.
