How did the printing press impact medicine?
A
The Gutenberg printing press allowed books to be be mass produced - ppl could now communicate their ideas and spread knowledge quickly.

How did voyages of discovery affect medicine?
A
Trips to the “New World” by Spanish and Portuguese sailors brought back supposedly medicinal plants e.g. tobacco and coca which were claimed as wonder drugs.

How did Renaissance art affect medicine`
A
- More accurate and realistic anatomical drawings of the human body b/c dissection was now allowed although it was limited to one body per year

How did the invention of the microscope and scientific study of disease affect medicine? (3)
A
- Microscope was invented by Leeuwenhoek which allowed him to see tiny organism he named “animacules” BUT it was very fuzzy.
- By the 1800s, microscopes could clearly magnify things 1000 times
- A scientific approach was developed as the Church no longer had control - doctors could now dissect bodies and use microscopes at medical schools.
