In what ways did hospitals change in the Renaissance period? (3)
A
- Began to use modern methods to CURE patients
- Hospitals were now founded and supported by charitable gifts of private people rather than the Church - e.g Guy’s Hospital
- Hospitals had dispensaries to give free medicine

What remained the same? (2)
A
- Still had specialist hospitals - e.g. London’s Lock Hospital for venereal diseases
- Treatment was still based on the 4 Humours, but it was now with the intention of curing patients

Why was there change? (2)
A
- After the Reformation (King Henry VIII split from the Catholic Church), Henry used the wealth of monasteries to create new hospitals
- Ppl began to believe that sickness was not punishment from God and should therefore be treated with modern science
