What are all substances made up of?
All substances are made up of particles. Different substances contain different particles. For example, a piece contains particles of iron and a glass of water contains thousands and thousands of water particles.
What is a solid?
A solid is rigid, has a fixed shape and has a fixed volume.
What is a liquid?
A liquid is not rigid, has no fixed shape and has a fixed volume.
What is a gas?
A gas is not rigid, has no fixed shape and has no fixed volume.
What happens when a liquid freezes
It turns into a solid
What happens when a solid melts?
It turn into liquid.
What is diffusion?
If someone is cooking in the kitchen it doesn’t take long for the smell to travel around the house to other rooms. This is because of diffusion.
When something boils or freezes what happens to the particles?
The particles move around and rearrange into a different material.
