What is focal point #1 to start the game?
Focal point #1 is to enforce guidelines, tone/tempo calls and time for officials to consistently react to illegal actions of players.
During what time of the game must the officials be aware about subs and why?
Late in the first and early in the second - aware of matchup changes and impact on the physical intensity and/or speed of game.
What is focal point #3 with finishing the first half?
Finish with a high level of concentration and work hard to maintain the temp already set.
What is focal point #4 for the start of the second half?
Should be the same as #1, enforce guidelines and set tone/temp.
Focal point #5 - When does the team typically change the physical style of the game? Why does this happen? Where does this typically happen?
Late in the third or early in the 4th - when a team is typically down, they must make ajustments to disrupt the flow of the game. Typically happens off ball play, in the post and rebounding.
What is focal point #6 for game ending situations?
Referee until the horn. Meet with crew each timeout in the last two minutes to discuss and prepare. Communicate. Referee to the level of your experience at all times.
