- TORSO - defender gets his torso in a squared-up or perpendicular position to his opponent resulting in an OF
- UPWARD - defender obtains legal positon prior to the upward shooting motion on a field goal attempt
- SPOT- the defender beats his opponent to a spot on the floor
- SLIP - defender beats offensive player to a legal spot and contact is more than incidental (inside plane of defenders shoulders) this should be an offensive foul

Double Technical Foul - punish aggressor first before resorting to a double technical foul
What should happen if a player taunts and opponent?
Technical foul
What should happen when simultaneous taunting occurs?
Verbal altercation - double technical foul and no FT attempted
After a dunk attempt, a player hangs/swings/gains greater height from basket ring - what should you do?
Assess an unsportsmanlike technical foul
What must the reporting official after timeout do as players walk to their benches?
Reporting official will stand at midcourt and monitor the players and the other two will position themselves near the FT line at each end until players are at their benches
What is the general procedure when an altercation occurs?
- Official closest to the play will get in between the players
- second official closest to the play will approach players involved and help with seperation of opponents
- third official will keep all participants within their sight and gather information (players leaving bench, person escalating the altercation)
- do not call tech or ejection right away if not necessary - conference with the crew first - review instant replay and administer all penalties
