amino acids are deaminated - (broken down) - in the mitochondria in the lvier cells
deamination - the removal of the amine group from amino acids
the amine group is converted to ammonia

ammonia enters the ornithine cycle - converted to urea
ammonia + co2 = ornithine = citralline
citralline moves from mitochondria into cytoplasm of the liver cell
urea is remvoed by kidneys
high concentration of urea in blood…decreases water potential of blood
which increases water reabsorption by kidneys
