Q

What is the histology of the liver?

A

hepatic artery and hepatic portal vein combine to flow towards central vein
as they blood flows through these, hepatocytes breaks down toxic substances through detoxification
e.g. alcohol

metabolic waste products leave via the central vein

the central veins join up to form the hepatic vein

Kupffer cells - in the sinusoid, they break down bacteria, they can break down large molecules
