How did Hitler manage all the different aspects of the the country?
Hitler was dependent on key deputies to run different aspects of the country. These men would be trusted long-time members of the party and would administer his policies. But they all reported to Hitler as the final authority.
Who was the Head of the SS?
Henrich Himmler (who had taken part in the Munich Putsch and orchestrated the Night of Long Knives) turned the SS into the most powerful force in Government.
What role did the SS have from 1934 - 1939?
They were responsible for policing and gathering intelligence and were responsible for the harassment of the Jews.
What role did the SS have during the War?
They were granted extreme authority to ensure the security of the Nazi regime. This included the extermination of Jews and other sub-humans. They were also in charge of newly seized areas, where they would oversee the extraction of natural resources and the enslavement of industrial labour.
What was Aryanism?
According to the Nazi Government, German people were the supreme master race of humanity and their preservation was a primary concern.
How did Aryanism impact on society?
It increased national and racial pride for those lucky enough to be seen as ‘pure’. The ‘Final Solution’ was implemented because of the threat that Jews posed to the Aryan race.
Why did Wartime expansion occur?
To restore national pride and to avenge the embarrassment of the defeat in WW1. This would mean that Germany would restore its great empires of the First and Second Reich.
