dissent between forms of Buddhism is real and quite contentious, with both sides declaring the other side to have somehow missed the point about what Buddhism should be in world today
what is issue of gender contentious?
especially whether women should be ordained and whether they should be the equivalent of male monks.
why has this become particularly contentious in Western countries?

that the essence of types of Buddhism is in finding a way for Buddhist beliefs to be applied to real world in a positive and helpful way
