real beliefs which capture their real philosophy of life because people’s philosophies arise from their beliefs
There are different types of
ritual, all serving different purposes
Rites of passage rituals move people from
one state to the other (e.g. single to married, adolescent to adult)
Rites of demarcation separate
separate out some space as sacred (Uluru to indigenous Australians, the blessing of a newly built church).
Rites of memorial are
special moments/events in the past that are made sacred (e.g. Anzac day services, thanksgiving in America).
