- the 2nd circulatory system
- a network of vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph that filters through lymph nodes

the dissolved components of blood (gases, nutrients, etc)

what are the 3 functions of the lymphatic system+2
A
- removes interstitial fluid from tissues
- absorbs and transports fats and fatty acids to the circulatory system
- involved in the body immune system
- lymphatic vessels travel through the whole body with lymph nodes and spleen filtering out micro organisms preventing them from entering blood stream and causing infection
- lymph then enters blood circulation where lymphocytes help guard against infection
