What is the eyepiece lens and what is its magnification?
The eyepiece lens is the lens which is closest to your eye and usually has a magnification of 10x.
What is the objective lens?
There are three lenses of different strengths which can be used to magnify the image more clearly.
What is the stage?
This is the place you put a microscope slide which are held in place by clips.
What is the Diaphragm?
It controls the amount of light that goes onto the microscope slide.
What is the light?
The light is projected onto the microscope slide and can vary from being a mirror to an electric bulb.
Why is the base very heavy?
To keep the microscope from falling over.
What does the arm do?
It holds the eyepiece lens above the stage.
What does the fine focus knob do?
It is used to focus on the image so it is sharp and clear.
What does the coarse focus knob do?
This is to focus the image properly so you can see it clearly.
