Life Processes and Cells Flashcards
What is an organelle?
A little organ.
What does a plant cell have that an animal cell doesn’t?
Cell wall, Chloroplast and a Vacuole.
What does the nucleus of a cell do?
Contains the DNA of the organism (the brain of the cell).
What is the cell membrane?
It controls what enters and exits the cell.
What is Cytoplasm?
A jelly-like fluid where the organelles are suspended (lots of reactions take place in the cytoplasm).
What are the Ribosomes?
It is where the protein is made.
What is the mitochondria?
Where energy is made (the powerhouse of the cell).
What does the cell wall in a plant cell do?
It gives structure and supports the plant.
What does the vacuole in a plant cell do?
To store food and water
(sap).
What does the chloroplast in a plant cell do?
It is where photosynthesis takes place.
