Name the parts of a flower used in reproduction.
Sepals, Petals, Nectaries, Stamen (anther and the filament) and the Carpel (stigma, style).
What is the function of the sepal?
Protect the flower when it’s a bud.
What is the function of the Petals?
Colourful to attract the insects.
What is the function of the nectary?
To give out sugary liquid to attract the insects.
What is the function of the anther?
Produces male sex cells (contained in the pollen grain).
What is the function of the filament?
Holds up the anther.
What is the function of the stigma?
It traps pollen.
What is the function of the style?
Where the pollen tube grows down to the female sex cells.
What is the function of the ovary?
Produces female sex cells (contained in the ovules).
