What do geographers divide Asia into?
Geographers divide The continent of Asia into regions, and one those is South Asia.It looks like a triangle jutting into the Indian Ocean.
What countries does it include?
Today it includes the countries of India, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal. India is the biggest in the region.
What was south Asia known as for much of history?
For much of its his, South Asia was simply known as India. It is still called the Indian subcontinent today.
What is a subcontinent?
A subcontinent is a large landmass that is separate from the rest of the continent.
How long does the Indian subcontinent stretch?
It stretches 2000 miles from north to south, and is almost the same from east to west in some places.
How is it separated from the rest of Asia?
The subcontinent is separated from the rest of Asia by the Himalayas and Hindu Lush, two mountain ranges to the north.
