What are social classes?
Social classes are groups of people that occupy different ranks or levels in a society.
What did the class structure represent?
The class structure resembled a pyramid, with least number of people at the top and largest number of people at the bottom.
Who made up the highest social class and what did these people have?
Priests and rulers made up the highest social class.The people at this rank had the most power and money.
Who made up the middle class and what did these people have?
Merchants, Farmers and artisans made up the middle class. Members of this class varied in wealth and society from one society to another.
Who made up the lowest class and what were they?
Slaves made up the lowest class in most societies.They were often war captives or poor people who sold themselves to pay their debts.
