the immune system and allergies Flashcards
what are causes of imbalance in the immune system?
- heredity
- allergies or candidiasis
- poor nutrition
- environmental pollution
- low stomach acid
- stress
what are the effects of the imbalance?
- enlarged lymph nodes
- weakness
- fatigue
- skin lesions or red streaks on the skin
- respiratory problems and allergies
- recurring or chronic infections
- candida
- these are all signs of depressed or weakened immune system
- -symptoms will vary depending on whether the lymphatic disorder affects the immune or circulation functions of the lymphatic system
what are recommendations for the immune system?
- healthy diet fro infancy
- reduce exposure to radiations, toxins and free radicals
- supplementation for strong immune system:
- antioxidants
- zinc
- EFAs
- a spleen and thymus extract may also be necessary in some cases
what is the PS connection to the immune system?
- sustained thoughts of anger, bitterness, hate, and resentment reduce the immune system
- must start to release these emotion, open up to love and see beauty around us
- counselling, EFT, NLP, gratitude journal, daily affirmations
explain the thymus
- gland located just behind the sternum
- largest in children and decrease in size with age
- produces important hormones such as thymosin
definition of thymosin
promotes the development and maturation of lymphocytes (WBCs in charge of immunity)
what are causes of imbalance of the thymus?
- recurrent infections and repeated assaults to the immune system
- undernourishment and maldigestion
- overexertion of gland can cause it to shrink over time
what is the PS connection to the thymus?
governs self love
-without it there is a dependency on others to provide it, leading to hurt and bitterness
what are effects of imbalance of the thymus?
immune system depression is linked to allergies, under-active stomach, vitamin A, C, E, zinc and iodine deficiencies
-iron builds up the quality of the blood increasing the resistance to disease and the immune system
what are recommendations for the thymus?
- adequate intake and absorption of protein, low fat and avoidance of sugar and coffee
- antioxidants
- EFAs
- every vitamin and mineral enhances our immunity because they contribute to the health of the whole body system
define allergy
the body’s inappropriate and excessive response to an allergen
define food allergy
inappropriate immunological response to a substance in a food (usually a protein)
define food sensitivity
when one eats more of a food than they can process efficiently
define food intolerance
results from a genetic defect in a digestive enzyme or a metabolic abnormality
-usually linked with dysbiosis or LGS
what are causes of imbalance of allergies
- food sensitivities- leaky gut and intestinal imbalance
- poor digestion
- inadequate enzymes and bacteria
- under-active stomach
- poor liver function
- foods introduced too early (not breastfed)
