What is the heart
A
4 chambered pump
The right side collects and delivers Deoxygenated blood to the lungs
The left side collects and delivers oxygenated blood to the body

The right side
A
Receives deoxygenated blood from the body via the superior and inferior vena cava.
- Pumps the blood to the lungs via the pulmonary artery
- Pumps blood to the pulmonary circuit (which is the circuit that to and from the lungs)

Left side
A
- Receives oxygenated blood from the lungs via the pulmonary vein
- Pumps blood to the body via the aorta
- Pumps’ blood to the systemic circuit
