Who is the author of the gospel?
We don’t know.
When was the gospel written?
After the fall of the temple and after when the Christians were kicked out of the synagogue. Between 85-125 CE.
Where was the gospel written?
We don’t know but have the idea that it was written in Palestine.
Why was the gospel written?
To promote Christology - to show that Jesus is Christ. Also to show that if Jesus never goes away the Holy Spirit can never go to his disciples.

What are the major differences between the synoptic gospels and John?
- John has no birth story for Jesus.
- Jesus is the eternal logos and created the idea of incarnation.
- There is no baptism story with John.
- There is no temptation story.
- There are no exorcisms.
- Jesus overcomes things through knowledge and truth.
- Teaching is radically different.
- No reinterpretation of the Mosaic law.
- No prediction of the fall of Jerusalem or Jesus coming back.
- No holy communion at the last supper.
- Jesus is always in power.
What is gnostic?
The idea that Jesus wasn’t human and more supernatural.
What does Jesus take to cleanse the temple?
Jesus takes a whip.

The gospel is 3 years long.
When does Jesus change Simon’s name?
He changes his name right away.
What does Jesus make known to the people?
That he is powerful and the messiah.
What is the Wedding in Cana?
This is where Jesus mother tells him to that there is no more wine at the wedding so Jesus fills jars up with water and turns them into wine. (Miracle 1)
