How can aspiration Pneumonia occur in elderly?

A
  • Having a dirty mouth can be fatal
  • Oral bacteria is main source of infection for aspiration pneumonia
  • Poor oral health = increased bacterial load = increased risk of aspiration pneumonia
  • Improved oral health reduces risk
