By the end of 1916, a toll was taken on the economy and there was an increase in the scarcity of goods. Inflation further increased leading to strikes in Moscow and Petrograd- by 1916 880,000 workers on strike.
What problems were there in rural areas by the end of 1916? X4
There were still economic problems which led to widespread unrest. Most young male peasants were conscripted and the price of grain was kept low so peasants could make no profit-made worse with increase in inflation.
Why did the Tsar do little about the social unrest?
Assumed the government would be able to survive after the 1905 revolution.
What did the government decide in February of 1917 and what cause did this have?
Bread was to be rationed which led to panic buying and more strikes.

Women took to the streets to celebrate International Women’s Day
What happened on the 25th February 1917 and what was the result?
200,000 people protested within Petrograd, after troops were told to try and suppress the rebellions it got worse as they were ignored.

Why did the Duma meet with the Tsar?
Requested his abdication.

Why did Nicholas abdicate?
He realized he had lost power and his son was too young and ill to rule.
