What are the three R’s in relation to the environment
Reduce, reuse, recycle
How can electricity be conserved?
Turn off equipment when not in use Turn off lights when not needed Purchase energy efficient equipment e.g. fridges, freezers and washing machines Keep equipment clean - uses less energy Run full loads in the dishwasher
How can water be conserved?
Put lids on pans when boiling
Use modern toilets that use less water when flushed
Only serve water on tables when requested
How can the amount of packaging be reduced?
Buy fresh ingredients (not processed e.g. frozen or tinned)
Buy in bulk
Use reusable storage containers
Why do we need to package foods?

Does not react with food

Causes litter problems

What does MAP stand for in relation to packaging?
Modified atmosphere packaging

Packages which have the gases modified to help maintain good quality food.
