The Elbow Flashcards
What happens to the humeroulnar joint in flexion?
Trochlea notch of ulna (concave) rolls and slides anteriorly over trochlea of humerus (convex)
What happens to the humeroulnar joint in extension?
Ulna rolls and slides posteriorly
What happens to the humeroradial joint in flexion?
Head of radius (concave) rolls and slides anteriorly over the humeral capitulum
What happnens to the humeroradial joint in extension?
Head of radius slides and rolls posteriorly (in full extension there is no contact between the radius & the humerus)
Normal ROM: Elbow flexion:
Normal ROM: Wrist flexion
140 to 150 degrees
80 to 90 degrees
Normal ROM: Elbow extension
0 to 10 degrees
Normal ROM: Supination of the forearm
90 degrees
Normal ROM: Pronation of the forearm
80 to 90 degrees

Tinels sign of the elbow & Elbow flexion test
ROM: Elbow flexion & wrist flexion (flexor carpi ulnaris involved in both movements and innervated by ulnar nerve)
What is the radioulnar joint?
Synovial pivot?
