What is the role of the circulatory system?
The role of the circulatory system is to transport oxygen and nutrients to our body’s tissues.
What does the circulatory system rely on?
It rely’s on blood, the blood vessels and the heart.
Why does the circulatory system rely on the blood?
Because the blood carries all important oxygen and nutrients.
Why does the circulatory system rely on the blood vessels?
Because it holds all the blood that carries the oxygen and nutrients.
Why does the circulatory system rely on the heart?
Because the heart pumps the blood around the body.
How many loops are there in the circulatory system and why?
It has two loops because one carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs where it gains oxygen and than flows back to the heart while the other one carries oxygenated blood to the rest of the body where it gives up its oxygen to the tissues becoming deoxygenated and than flows back to the heart where the cycle starts again.
How many chambers does the heart have.
It has 4 chambers.
What are the top chambers called?
The top chambers are called Atria.(an individual one is called an Atrium).
What are the bottom chambers called?
The bottom chamber are called ventricles.
What is the job of the valves?
The prevent the blood from flowing backwards and ensuring that it always flows in the right direction.
How does the blood flow into the heart?
It flows in by the vena cava and the pulmonary vein.It than flows into the top chambers.
What is the special about the blood that comes from the pulmonary veins?
That blood is oxygenated and comes the lungs while the blood that coming from the vena cava is the blood from the loop meaning it’s deoxygenated.
How does the blood go from the atria into the ventricles.
The two atria contract together and they push the blood into the ventricles.Than the ventricles contrast pushing the blood out of the pulmonary atria which send the blood back to the lungs and the aorta which send it to the full body.
What does vein and artery mean?
Veins carry blood to the heart and artery carry blood away from the heart.
