What are monoclonal antibodies?
Monoclonal antibodies are small proteins produced by our white blood cells.
What is the function of monoclonal antibodies?
They fight against infection and disease.
What is an antigen?
An antigen is any substance that causes your immune system to produce antibodies against it.
How are monoclonal antibodies produced?
They are produced by b-lymphocytes which is a type of white blood cell.They are produced from lots of clones of a single white cell.
What are protein antigens?
It’s like a sugar that is found on the outside of viruses and disease.All the antibodies target that one specific protein antigen.
How do monoclonal antibodies divide?
They don’t divide really quickly so we combine them with fast dividing tumour cells.
What is produced when tumour cells and antibodies combine?
They produce hybridoma which is lots of antibodies and they also divide rapidly.
