the brunnstrom approach Flashcards
what are the keys things in brunnstrom stage 1
- no activation of movement, flaccid
or - increase in tone or co contraction in synergy then go to stage 2
what is the positive response for the brunnstrom approach stage 2
- pt can trace activiation of incocled UE mm, particularly elbow flexors
what is the positive response for brunnstrom stage 3
pt is able to initiate movement in synergistic pattern with marked spasticity , then progress to stage 4
if the patient is able to sit what brunnstrom levle would u start with
start UE testing at stage 3
what is a positive response or key response from the brunnstrom approach stage 4
able to perform task partially with some movement combination that are NOT synergistic but spasticity is still observable during non synergistic movement
what is the key thing that is different in the brunnstrom approach stage 5
pt able to do 2 joint movement and less spasticity
what is the key things in the brunnstrom approach stage 6
pt has coordination and speed of movement should be similar with B UE and pt shoudl be able to trace to no spasticity with movement
