The Sepoys found themselves fighting fellow indians. The british demanded high taxes + rents from indians. Indians were victims of economic oppression. loading this involved biting the end of the cartrige which was lubricated with pig and cow fat. hindus saw cows as sacred and mislims saw pigs as dirty so soldies refused to use the rifle
