The brachial plexus Flashcards
What does running to dereham costs mothing stand for?
Roots, Trunks, divisions, cords, branches/nerves
What nerve roots are involved in the brachial plexus?
C5, C6, C7, C8, T1
What are the three trunks and which nerve roots supply them
Upper trunk (C5 and C6), middle trunk (C7) and lower trunk (C8 and T1)
What supplies each division and where do they do?
Anterior division supplies the lateral cord with upper and middle trunks, as well as the medial cord woth the lower trunk
Posterior division supplies the postertior cord with the upper, middle and lower trunks
What nerve roots supply the musculocutaneous nerve
C5-C7
What nerve roots supply the axillary nerve?
C5 and C6
What muscles does the musculocutaneous nerve supply?
Flexor muscles of arm
What does the axillary nerve supply?
The deltoid
What is the brachial pexus
A network of nerves connecting the CNS to the upper limb. Any upper limb movement is controlled by the brachial plexus
What nerve roots supply the musculocutaneous nerve?
Lateral cord of the brachial plexus (C7, C6 and C7
What nerve roots supply the median nerve?
All of those in the brachial plexus (C5, C6, C7, C8, T1).
What muscles does the median nerve supply
Elbow, wrist, intercarpal jounts, anterior muscles of forearm, muscles of digits, skin of palm, thenar eminence
Also the only nerve to travel though capral tunnel
What nerve roots supply the radial nerve
C5-T1 posterior cord
Where does the radial nerve supply
Posterior arm and forearm, and skin of posterior arm, forearm, dorsal hand
(triceps)
What nerve roots supply the ulnar nerve
Medial cord (C7, C8 and T1)
