- Salivary glands - produce amylase enzyme

What is the function of the Stomach?
- Pummels the food with its muscular wall
- Produces the protease enzyme, pepsin
- Produces Hydrochloric acid - to kill bacteria & the create right pH for the enzyme pepsin to work (pH2 - acidic)
What is the function of the Oesophagus?
Muscular tube that connects the mouth and the stomach
What is the function of the Liver?
Where bile is produced
What is the function of the Gall bladder?
Where bike is stored
What is the function of the Pancreas?
Produces protease, amylase and lipase enzymes which it releases into the small intestine
What is the function of the Small intestine?
Produces protease, amylase and lipase enzymes to complete digestion
Nutrients are absorbed out of the Alimentary canal into the body here
What is the function of the Large intestine?
Where excess water is absorbed from the food
What is the function of the Anus?
Where faeces leave the body
