Q

Two types of electricity

A

Static electricity

When you brush your hair or when socks stick together in the dryer

Current electricity - when you switch on a lamp

The flow of an electrical charge - electrons moved through a conductor carrying the electricity

16
Q

Why are some substances better conductors ?

A

Substances have different conducting and insulating properties

17
Q

Name the three electrical force rules

A
  1. Like charges repel
  2. Opposite charges attract
  3. Charged object attracts neutral objects
18
Q

What are the effects of static electricity ?

A

Electrons are transferred to make one object negatively charged and it will attract other objects

Eg if you rub a plastic ruler with a cloth the cloth leaves electrons on the ruler and the ruler has gained negative electrons so has a negative charge and will pick up neutral paper
