Q

What happened at Fort Sumter in South Carolina? Why is that significant?

A

Why is that significant?- What happened on Fort Sumter was when the Southerners voted to form the Confederacy and left the Union. The Union still had soliders in Charleston and relocated to Fort Sumter. South Carolina wanted the Union soliders out, so the Confederacy put a multi month long seige, then started bombing the fort, The Union soliders surrendered and evacuated. This is significant because this act of agression started the Civil War.
