How did Kansas earn the nickname “Bleeding Kansas” in the 1850s
Kansas earned that nickname because there were several eruptions of violence over the issue of slavery.
What were the “Bogus Elections?”
The “Bogus Elections” were when 5,000 or so Missouri men illegally participated in the voting process for Kansas to bee a free state or slave state.
Who were the Border Ruffians?
The Border Ruffians were the 5,000 or so men that voted for a proslavery legislature.
What was the Wakarusa War?
The Wakarusa war was proslavery and antislavery forces clashed around Lawrence and Wakarusa River. A shrieff set up a blockade around Lawrence and the cititzens prepared for an attack. It never came, and the siege ended when a treaty was signed with the Missourians. James Lane and Charles Robinson were key in negotaing the treaty.

He was a well known abolitionist and you should connect him with the Pottawamoine Creek Massacre and The Raid on Harpers Ferry.
What was the Pottawatomie Creek Massacre?
It was when John Brown got a few of his sons together for an attack on proslavey in Franklin County, and five men were killed.

He was a U.S. congressman from Indianna and voted in favor of the Kansas-Nebraska Act. After the act passed, he and about 400 other albolitionists moved to Kansas to help persuade the voting. He was also known for leading the Jayhawkers in their strikes.
