lack of physical activity, poor food choices, more disposable income, advertising foods high in fat and sugar, un=sing food emotionally.

teenagers usually have a sedentary lifestyle, travel by car, reduced open spaces for activity, internet culture.

leads to weight gain, socializing revolves around food.

Why is iron important for teenagers?
for growth (spurts), start of menstruation, high chance of anaemia at this age, decrease in cognitive ability,
Why is calcium important for teenagers?
to build up bones so as they are able to reach peak bone mass which prevents the development of osteoporosis in later years, normal function of muscles nerves and clotting of blood.
Why do boys have a higher calcium requirement than girls?
they have a higher skeleton mass to attain.
