A

prevent clotting of blood and lowering of blood pressure.

Q

What are sources of omega 6?

A

spreads and salad dressing.

18
Q

What are the functions of omega 6?

A

Lowers LDL cholesterol which helps protect against heart disease, large amounts can reduce good HDL cholesterol.

19
Q

Explain trans/hydrogenated fats?

A

unsaturated oils are converted to semi solid shortening by hydrogenation, cooking oils reduced, unstable and oxidize easily producing free radicals causing damage to the body.

20
Q

What is an adipose tissue?

A

energy layer, insulating layer, protection, fat soluble vitamins.

21
Q

Why do we eat fat?

A

enhances palatability of food, flavor, energy source, vehicle for other nutrients.
