What are smart textiles ?
Textiles engineered to have numerous properties including additionally strength, resistance to fire or water and dirt
What do conductive fabrics allow for ?
A small electoral current to safely pass through them
This tech is used to dissipate static gathering or for touch screen gloves
What do interactive textiles allow ?
Small electronic components such as batteries to be enabled inside them and can function as an electronic device or sensor
What are some examples of interactive textiles ?
Circuits that can be interpreted into fabrics Eg heart rate monitors
In biometrics the new tech can help collect body measurements and calculations
What are fire retardant textiles ?
Where are they used
- Textiles that are more resistant to fire than others ( this is due to chemical treatment or fireproof fibres)
Used: furniture and furnishings were fire safety is paramount
What is nomex?
A flame resistant material 🔥
- It can withstand instense heat of flames
- Often being worn by firefighters and formal 1 racing drivers for protection !
What is Kevlar ?
As tightly woven fabric that has great impact resistance
Often being used in racing tires, racing sails, gardening gloves and bulletproof gloves
What is the definition of Kevlar ?
Kevlar is a strong, lightweight material that has a high tensile strength to weight ratio
