How is paper made ?
- Trees are felled, debarked then shredded
- Water is then added to the shredded trees
- Boiled up to make wood pulp
- Chemicals and dyes added to change the color, strength and surface finish. Bleaching and pigmenting
5 pulp pours over the fine mesh and squeezed between rollers. The cellulose fibers mat together

What are the standard sizes of paper ?
A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 ect all the way to A8 which is the smallest

- 80gsm commonly used in schools
- cheap, abundant and often FCS recycled material

- 60gsm smooth and semi transparent
- can see work beneath, takes most media well and recycled

- 150gsm so high quality and heavy
- heavy, thick, textured, rough, opaque, expensive and recyclable
- Used sketching, art work and water color

- 250gsm, bright and smooth
- high quality, excellent colour transfer, standard sizes, glossy surface adds to professional finish

- white card with foil backing
- stuff and oil resistant, foil backing reflects heat or cold, indicative, can’t be recycled

- one or more fluted cards sandwhich Ed together between layers of Kraft paper
- corrugating make it strong, protective and insulate, recyclable
- packaging and models
Give some information on foam core board ?
- smooth surface expanded PS laminated with white boards
- thick, rigid, excellent for modeling, prone to cracking, very expensive and can’t be recycled
