Non Ferrous Metals Flashcards
1
Q
Give some information on aluminum ?
A
- Pros: lightweight, corrosion resistant, malleable and conductive of heat and electricity
- Cons: expensive and hard to join
- Used: planes, window frames, car and engine parts, cans and foil
2
Q
Give some information on copper ?

- cons: expensive
- Used: wires, cookware and plumbing pipes
3
Q
Give some information on tin ?
A
- Pros: corrosion resistant, used to cost other melts, low melting point, fusible, ductile
- Uses: alloyed with lead, tins and tin coating
4
Q
Give some information on Zinc ?
A
- Pros: corrosion resistant- used to coat other metals- hot dip process when molten
- Cons: not very strong
- Uses: Zinc coating and zinc painted appliances
