TCA's overall chemical strat Flashcards
1
Q
TCA
A
eukaryotic enzymes in the mitochondria. What must happen?
Need to have transporters involved.
2
Q
Oxidation of C involves,,,
A
loss of Hydride or gain of bonds to O with ∆G saved in NADH, FADH2 and GTP.
GTP can be converted to ATP
3
Q
net rxn TCA
A
OA formed in step 8 is used in step 1:
3 NAD+ + FAD + GDP + Pi + Acetyl-CoA + 2H2O —-> 3NADH + FADH2 + GTP + CoA + 3H+
4
Q
Two phases of TCA
A
phase 1: Rxns 1-4… oxidative phase
phase 2: Rxns 5-8… Regenerative phase, are reversible.
5
Q
What is the key idea/overall chem strat???
A
Acetyl-Coa oxidation in TCA will happen as it does chemically because need carbanion TS stabilized via a/b-keto acids.
Come back to this idea as you study.
