E1 catalyzes rxns 1 and 2 with a handoff to E2 Flashcards
Ylid
Ylid is a dipolar ion. We are interested in the minus, which has occurred becayse there is a Hydrogen that has been lost (gives - charge, carbanion then becomes nucleophile)
Ylid is a great e- sink due to resonance.
What is happening at the end of E1 catalyzed rxn?
In this reaction, at the end of it , we are handing off to E2, which is involved at the end of the rxn.
Nestled CC
There is a second CC that starts and finishes before you finish the original CC.
TAZ
becomes nucleophilic carbanion which does nuc attack.
Hidden redox rxn
E1 is the dehydrogenase… There is an ox coupled with a reduction… Sulfurs such as formation of disulfide can be a redox change. (taking S-H to make S-S)
The disulfide is getting reduced to an SH?
