Evaluation of Students Ability
Demonstrated Ability - Evaluation of performance based on student’s experience and stages of development
Correct Errors - don’t always just take over (let them make mistakes as long as safety isn’t compromised). A student cannot learn if you don’t let them correct their errors
Keep students informed - Progress, Critiques honestly and often, Address deficiencies and suggest correction, Praise accomplishments
Knowledge and Practical Tests - confident the student can pass, instructor responsible for deficiencies, if you endorse, you are responsible for the student’s safety
How long do you keep endorsements? What do they include?
3 years. Name of student and AC type. Must also keep records of type, date, and results for all knowledge and practical test endorsements
Practical Test Endorsements - Instructor Responsibilities
Student failure = instructor responsibility
Endorsement = stating confidence that the applicant will pass the test
Endorsing students before they are ready is a breach of faith with the students
Endorsements include: Name, Date, Type, and Results. Required to keep for 3 years.
