Task 8 Knowledge Clip Flashcards
What is the condition stimulus?
Is the house for the alcoholic where he drinks alcohol like the bell for the dog when he’s about to get food
What is the Unconditional stimulus?
The alcoholic himself
The piece of meat he dog would get (US) after hearing the bell(CS)
So relation between CS and US?
CS is predictive of US House is predictive of alcohol intake
What happens after the association between CS AND US?
To the development of CS into Condition responses in the dog case would be salivation in response to the bell
Why doesn’t the clinic help the alcoholic that much?
Because in the clinic they don’t deal with the cues the condition stimulus brings
What is extinction?
Repeated exposure to the CS without the US
Problem with extinction?
It is a temporary inhibition because it isn’t and learning process it can easily return
How can conditioning processes explain an overdose?
Even though the intake wasn’t too large or heavy
Heroin addict who always consumes heroin home
to understand the overdose is to look CR so because you’re used to intake of the product your body will anticipate its effects (heroin lowering your heart down)
So when the addict changes the environment of intake his body won’t make so many CR changes and therefore the dose will have more effect
