When must you advise a supervisor in regards to a taser?
whenever a taser has been shown or used, the operator must notify a supervisor asap
ensure post-incident procedures required of/by a supervisor are completed
What are the Supervisor’s actions after an officer uses a TASER?
Check with operator if your physical attendance is necessary at the scene
Ensure proper aftercare and medical attention is provided
Ensure the scene is preserved and photographed,
all evidence, including discharged cartridges, wires, probes and sufficient (4-5) cartridge identification tags (CIT), are recovered from the scene and secured
Ensure:
the med exam is recorded on a POL 42 - Post TASER Exposure Medical Examination Form and uploaded to the TOR
Ensure the operator completes the details in the TASER register
Ensure the operator, or individuals involved submit a tactical options report
Who can exam a person who has been tasered?
A registered medical doctor (or where not available, an Intermediate Life Support (ILS) qualified ambulance officer)
What are the supervisor’s action after a TASER has been shown?
Ensure the operator submits a (TOR)
Ensure the operator completes the details of all arc/warning display in the TASER register
Ensure the operator
uploads the TASER footage and event logs into Evidence.Com via Evidence
categorises the uploaded data including the TOR and event details
shares the event in Evidence.com with their supervisor
Debriefs the officer involved on the incident, reviews the footage and TOR
Determine whether the show of the TASER was in accordance with these instructions, noting on the TOR form a summary of the outcome of the review.
