Takeoff Flashcards
How do you begin a takeoff at a non-controlled airport?
Announce on the CTAF that you’re taxiing onto the departing runway, check for traffic visually, and align the aircraft with the center line
What should be done with the throttle for takeoff?
Apply full throttle, smoothly and within 5 seconds
What should be done to maintain the centerline?
Pick a reference point near the end of the runway and use the rudder pedals to steer and maintain centerline.
What should be done to combat the natural tendency of an aircraft to want to turn left on climb?
Right rudder
What should be done once the aircraft has accelerated to climb speed?
Trim should be adjusted to maintain the speed
What should be done during climb? Pattern or leave pattern procedure?
Maintain centerline. Enter crosswind within 300 feet of pattern altitude. Leaving pattern, fly straight at pattern altitude of make a left 45 turn to exit at pattern altitude.
What is the minimum altitude you should make before making a turn?
