What needs to be set before starting the engine?
Parking brake
What setting should the fuel selector valve be in before start?
Both
What setting should the fuel shutoff valve be in before start?
Pushed all the way in
What should be done with circuit breakers and master switch?
Check they are pushed in and the master switch is off
What should be done with the throttle before start? Where should the mixture be before start? Beacon?
Throttle - 1/4 in
Mixture - Idle/cutoff
Beacon - On
What steps need to happen right before starting engine?
Turn on master switch, clear prop, activate electric fuel pump, advance mixture until fuel flow is 3-5 gallons per hour, then pull mixture to idle
What steps need to happen now that you’re ready to start the engine?
Turn off fuel pump, turn key to start, release when engine starts. Advance mixture to full rich and wait for oil pressure to rise
What is the maximum amount of time the oil pressure gauge should be in the green after start?
30 seconds
What steps need to happen after startup?
Turn on avionics master switch, raise flaps, activate necessary lighting
