What is the purpose of the pre-flight?
To assure that the plane is ready to fly
What is the general overview?
A quick scan looking for obvious leaks, dents, ice, dirt, or anything else that is obvious
What is the purpose of a pre-flight checklist?
To help ensure a proper pre-flight before every flight
What required documents need to be on board?
Airworthiness certificate, registration, operating limits, and weight and balance information
What steps need to be done to check fuel?
Remove control lock and turn the master switch on, check fuel quantity and ensure low fuel annunciator is off
How do you check that the electrical cooling fan is operating?
Turn the avionics master to on, listen for the fan to be functioning, then turn the avionics master to off
How do you check the lights?
Turn on all the light switches, quickly ensure they’re all functioning, turn them back off, then turn off the master switch to ensure proper charge on the battery
What position should the fuel selector valve be in for pre-flight?
Both
What should be inspected in the exterior?
Movable surfaces, stabilizers, and pins
How should fuel be inspected?
Check each fuel drain for water or sediment and continue to inspect until fuel runs clear. Discard properly
