Take Off Flashcards
1
Q
ABORT (1C : 1N)
A
- THROTTLE - IDLE
- BRAKES - AS REQUIRED
If fire, or overrun and risk of collision is likely; - EXECUTE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST
Caution: Whenever moderate to heavy braking has been used, the wheel brakes will be hot. It is preferable not to leave the park brake on as the pads may weld to the discs. Warn ground crew if heavy braking has been used.
Note: There will normally be sufficient runway available to stop the aircraft without harsh use of the brakes. Excessive braking may cause tyre failure.
2
Q
CANOPY UNLOCKED DURING TAKE OFF
A
- EXECUTE ABORT CHECKLIST
3
Q
ENGINE FIRE OR FAILURE DURING TAKE OFF
A
- EXECUTE ABORT CHECKLIST
4
Q
TYRE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF (Nose wheel) (1N)
A
- EXECUTE ABORT CHECKLIST
Note: Use minimum braking during a tyre failure abort, hold elevator full back to minimise forces on the nose wheel. Differential braking may be necessary to maintain directional control.
5
Q
TYRE FAILURE DURING TAKEOFF (Main wheel) (1C : 1N)
A
- EXECUTE ABORT CHECKLIST
Caution: A blown tyre may fracture a brake hydraulic line causing failure of that brake.
Note: The aircraft should not be taxied after a tyre has failed as difficulty with directional control may be experienced.
6
Q
ENGINE FIRE/FAILURE AFTER TAKEOFF (EFATO) (3W)
A
1. THROTTLE - IDLE If fire evident: 2. EXECUTE EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN CHECKLIST 3. HOT & COLD AIR KNOBS - CLOSED 4. CANOPY VENTS - ARROW AFT 5. EXECUTE FORCED LANDING CHECKLIST Warning: Under no circumstances should aircraft control be jeapardised at the expense of completing checks or manipulating the canopy vent on the opposite side of the cockpit If no fire and time permits: 6. EMERGENCY BOOST PUMP - ON 7. THROTTLE - CHECK RESPONSE Warning: The throttle must be closed as operation of the emergency boost pump with full throttle and low RPM may result in a rich cut. Warning: Under no circumstances should aircraft control be jeapardised at the expense of completing checks If no response: 8. EXECUTE FORCED LANDING CHECKLIST
