Oil Flashcards

1
Q

LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE (1W : 1N)

A
  1. THROTTLE - IDLE
  2. PROPELLER - FULL INCREASE
  3. THROTTLE - AS REQUIRED (maximum 2800 RPM)
Note: With 17-18” MAP, propeller full increase and 80-85 KIAS oil is not used to govern the RPM. Use throttle to maintain/control the engine RPM below the governed range. A low rate of climb may be achieved.
  4. ENGINE - MONITOR
  5. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE USING MINIMUM PRACTICABLE POWER
Warning: If a total of oil pressure and illumination of oil pressure light is associated with zero RPM indication, the oil pump has failed. Experience has shown that after a total loss of oil pressure, mechanical failure can occur within five minutes and a forced landing must be planned immediately.
