ABANDONING AIRCRAFT ON THE GROUND THROUGH CLOSED CANOPY (1W)

A
  1. Attempt to push the canopy up and back using the normal jettison procedure.
    If unsuccessful:
  2. Unclip the crash axe from the left seat pan and remove.
  3. Strike the canopy as hard as possible about 15cm above the canopy lower frame on either side.
  4. Once the canopy has been penetrated, strike ahead of the cracks.
Exit through the escape hole with helmet, gloves and parachute still attached. Parachute may be discarded if it fouls the canopy and exit is prevented.
    Warning:
Keep helmet visor down and gloves on while braking the canopy during exit.
