AIRCRAFT ABANDONMENT IN FLIGHT (1W)

  1. MIXTURE - FULL LEAN
  2. EXECUTE CANOPY JETTISON CHECKLIST
  3. HARNESSES - RELEASE
  4. MIC/TEL LEADS - DISCONNECT
  5. ABANDON - HEAD FIRST OVER TRAILING EDGE
  6. PARACHUTE - PULL ā€˜Dā€™ RING WHEN CLEAR OF AIRCRAFT
    Warning: The minimum recommended height for abandoning the aircraft is 2,000ft AO. Ideally, the decision to abandon should be made by 2,500ft AO to allow for the completion of abandonment drills.
    If bail out is necessary in a spin or uncontrolled flight, the aircraft should be abandoned by 4,000ft AO.

CANOPY JETTISON (1W)

  1. AIRSPEED - 80 KIAS
  2. CANOPY JETTISON KNOB - PUSH
  3. CANOPY LOCKING HANDLE - UNLOCK
    Warning: The canopy locking handle must be grasped with an underhand drip. If an overhand grip is used there is a strong possibility of injuring a shoulder.
    In flight canopy jettison characteristics are not fully known. To minimise the possibility of injury should the canopy dish or scoop, occupants should lower their heads and face inwards.

CANOPY UNLOCKED IN FLIGHT (1C)

A
  1. AIRSPEED - 80 KIAS
  2. DO NOT YAW
  3. LOWER HEAD AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE
  4. LAND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
    Caution: Do not attempt to lock the canopy in flight.
